This instrument set supports posterior spine work through tubular retractor systems while preserving the anatomy around the corridor. In lumbar spinal stenosis, it allows targeted decompression of neural structures through a minimal incision, clearing hypertrophic ligament and bone with limited muscle disruption. For lumbar disc herniation, MIS posterior discectomy instruments remove herniated fragments while maintaining spinal stability. The same approach extends to degenerative disc disease, easing disc-related nerve irritation with less postoperative stiffness; to spondylolisthesis, where targeted decompression is delivered through tubular access; to facet joint hypertrophy, treated with selective bone removal via MIS facetectomy that avoids destabilizing the spine; and to revision cases involving recurrent stenosis, where a small surgical corridor limits additional tissue trauma.
Bayonet-pattern instruments are shaped to keep the surgeon’s hand and wrist out of the visual field, unlike straight-shafted tools that can block the view down a tubular retractor.
