The bayonet offset moves the surgeon’s hand out of the sight line, so the sharpened cup stays visible under the microscope or through a tubular retractor at all times.
Three cup sizes let the surgeon scale the instrument to the task, from fine work in tight spaces with the 1.8mm cup to efficient bulk removal with the 5.2mm cup. Three working-end orientations complete the range: straight for direct approaches, forward angled for clearing tissue beneath overhanging structures, and reverse angled for drawing material back toward the operator. Typical uses include MIS discectomy, skull-base dissection, otologic procedures, and microvascular work.
Each curette is made in Germany entirely from German stainless steel, carries a PVD coating, and features mirror-polished surfaces that clean easily and tolerate 134 C steam sterilization.
The full set of Wiggins Medical MIS bayonet curettes is available to Canadian spine and neurosurgery programs via EB MED CO.
