Its wedge-shaped tip is thicker and more robust than the flat spatula tips used on facial cannulas, giving surgeons the strength needed to work through dense, resistant abdominal tissue while undermining the abdominal apron.
The tip is designed to spread and push tissue apart rather than cut it, allowing it to move through the fibrous planes of Scarpa’s fascia with a blunt dissection technique. Because this approach preserves the blood supply feeding the overlying skin flap, it helps lower the likelihood of seroma formation and flap ischemia during tummy tuck surgery.
Two suction ports are positioned at the tip so that, as the cannula is advanced to separate tissue, tumescent fluid and loose fat are aspirated continuously. This combination of dissection and evacuation is intended to make abdominal undermining more efficient and controlled.
The cannula is machined from hardened German-grade 304 stainless steel and hand-finished at the tip for smooth, atraumatic tissue entry.
EB MED CO supplies this wedge liposuction cannula to hospitals and surgical clinics across Canada.
